On poursuit nos pérégrinations au pays de Gandhi avec l'incontournable chanson du dimanche, qui n'aura hélas d'hindi que le nom car il s'agit du hit planétaire de la FIFA World Cup 1998 (seule année où j'ai regardé plus de 15 min d'adultes payés pour courir après une balle et me suis peinturlurée des couleurs de la France en riant comme une bossue puisque chaque membre de ma famille avait fait la même chose, bref) et qui s'appelle Vindaloo.
Non pas en hommage au Mahatma mais pour rimer avec la phrase "We're off to Waterloo", fameuse bataille où les Rosbif nous mirent une sévère branlée, (mais bon Zizou s'en ai bien occupé lors de ce fameux match donc notre petit honneur chauvin est sauf, bref).
Malgré sa facture un poil beauf', cette petite perlouze holliganesque se révèle une sorte de palimpseste oulipien pour ceux qui saurait bien y regarder (et qui se serve de Songfacts comme d'autres de Wiki, bref).
Car le clip reprend d'une manière assez parodique le look de Richard Ashcroft et la scène de rentrage de lard de gens très pressés que l'on retrouve dans "Bittersweet Symphony" de The Verve, qui elle-même est une parodie du hit de 91 de Massive Attack, "Unfinished Sympathy".
